Plain English first:We collect only what we need to run the app, we don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and you can delete everything at any time.
1. What we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address. You may optionally provide your first and last name, which we use only to personalise your experience (for example, greetings).
Flock data. Everything you enter into Farmers Arcane — bird profiles, egg records, health observations, treatment logs, medication information, flock notes, integration tracking, and related records — is yours. We store it solely to provide the service to you.
Location. During onboarding you provide your flock's location (city, ZIP code, or coordinates). We use this only for weather capture.
Weather data. When you log eggs for the first time on a given day, we automatically fetch a weather snapshot using your flock's location from a third-party weather service (WeatherAPI). This snapshot is stored alongside your egg records. Your location is sent to WeatherAPI as part of an API request and is not retained by them beyond the call.
Usage & analytics data. Standard server and access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security monitoring and performance. We also use Google Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate (pages visited, general location, device type) so we can improve it. This data is not used to identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on.
2. What we don't do
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
- We do not serve ads. Farmers Arcane contains no advertising.
- We do not share your flock data with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.
3. How we use your information
- To operate and improve the Farmers Arcane service.
- To send transactional emails: account confirmation, password resets, and important service notices.
- To personalise your experience when you provide your name.
- To capture weather data alongside your egg records.
- To notify you of new features (you can unsubscribe at any time).

We use the following services to operate Farmers Arcane. Each has its own privacy policy.

We do not use Facebook Pixel or any advertising or ad-targeting technology.
5. Data storage and security
Your data is stored in a secure database provided by Supabase, with row-level security ensuring only you can access your own records. All connections use HTTPS encryption. We follow industry-standard security practices, though no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data and all associated flock records are permanently deleted. We may retain anonymised, aggregate statistics that cannot be linked back to you.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access all your data through the app at any time.
- Update or correct your information in Settings.
- Delete your account and all associated data via Settings > Account > Delete my account.
- Contact us with questions about your data.

8. Children's privacy
Farmers Arcane is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email to the address on your account. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
